How to apply online services portal

Before you use the portal, you need to do your registration with the portal. Also, make sure you have an internet device like smartphone or laptop to use this portal. Now follow my steps to find out how to register an account with SASSA services portal.

Registration Form

1) Visit services.sassa.gov.za

The official portal address is https://services.sassa.gov.za/portal/r/sassa/sassa/home. You can click on this link to visit the portal online.

2) Click on the “Register an Account” Button

On the main page, you will see a yellow colored button with the text “Register”. You need to click or tap on that button. Once you click or tap on the button, it will pop up a dialogue where you will be asked to agree with “South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) & Cookie Consent”.

Click or tap on the “Agree” box, and now press the “Apply” button.

3) Complete Your Registration

Now you will see a forum with the heading ‘Client Registration”. This is your registration form, and you need to fill it out with valid information. Here are the details that you need to enter:

  • Citizenship: You need to choose your citizenship type from the drop-down menu:
    • South African Citizens
    • Permanent Resident
    • Refugee
  • Identity Document Type: The next thing is to choose between:
    • Identity Document/ID Document
    • Temporary ID
  • Title: Choose your title from:
    • Mr
    • Mrs
    • Miss
  • Surname: Enter your surname.
  • Full Name: Now type your full legal name.
  • Email: Provide your email address.
  • Password: Choose a strong password for your account. It must be 8 characters long, use upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Country Code: Choose the code from the menu.
    • +27
    • +264
  • Cell Phone Number: Type your 9-digit mobile phone number. Do not add +27 or 0027 in front of your number.

Now, if you are an existing SASSA grant beneficiary, then you need to fill in the further details that are:

  • Existing Grant Type: You need to choose the grant name that you are receiving. Choose the grant name from the drop-down menu.
  • Existing Payment Method: Choose your payment method for grant payment.
    • Bank (Choose bank name)
    • SASSA Card
  • Existing Residential Address: Provide your current home address in this section.

Now click on the “Register Me” button and get a confirmation email and SMS from SASSA confirming that your account has been successfully registered.

Now you should login to your account to make sure your registration is successful. You need to use your identity number /ID number and password to login to your account. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to https://services.sassa.gov.za/portal/r/sassa/sassa/home.
  2. Now click on the “Login” button at the upper right corner.
  3. It will ask for location permission to share with SASSA so allow it. You can not login without allowing the location access to the browser.
  4. Now enter your ID number and password.
  5. Click on the “Log In” button to go to your dashboard.

What Can You Do on the SASSA Services Portal?

The SASSA Services Portal is a complete platform for managing your SASSA grants. Once you register and log in, you can use many features without going to a SASSA office. Here are the main tasks you can do on the portal:

✅ 1. SASSA Online Application

You can apply for different SASSA grants directly through the portal. These include:

  • Older Persons Grant
  • Child Support Grant
  • Disability Grant
  • Foster Child Grant
  • Care Dependency Grant

Just fill out the online form and submit your documents. The portal will guide you step by step.

✅ 2. SRD.SASSA.GOV.ZA Banking Details Update

If you are a Social Relief of Distress (SRD R350) grant beneficiary, you can update your banking details online. Use your ID number and phone number to log in at srd.sassa.gov.za, or use the SASSA Services Portal to access the same option.

Make sure the banking account is in your name to avoid payment delays.

✅ 3. SRD.SASSA.GOV.ZA Application

You can also apply for the R350 SRD Grant using the online portal. Just go to the SRD section and fill in your personal information, income details, and contact number. You’ll get a confirmation via SMS once your application is submitted.

✅ 4. Apply for Child Grant Online

If you want to apply for a Child Support Grant, you can do that online too. The form is available on www.sassa.gov.za or through the services portal.

You will need:

  • Your child’s birth certificate
  • Your ID
  • Proof of income (if any)

Upload the documents and submit the form online.

The R370 grant can be applied for online. This is the Social Relief of Distress Grant for unemployed South Africans. You can:
