SASSA Status Declined

SASSA Status Declined

SASSA wants to mitigate the unemployment in South Africa, which is why it is offering SRD R370 grant. However, not every person is eligible for this grant. Ineligible people will get the SASSA status declined response when they apply and check their SASSA status for SRD grant. But if you are eligible and still have a rejection of an SRD grant application, then you have the opportunity.

I personally have experienced many cases where citizens were eligible but got declined status. So far, I have helped more than 500 people get their R370 payment after a declined status or failed status issue.

Now, I am sharing my experience and working guide with all the SRD grant applicants who are eligible but are receiving the status declined problem. From now on, you will get the R370 cash.

Why Was the SRD Grant Application Declined Even If You Are Eligible?

If you are sure that you qualify for the SRD grant but your grant application is declined, then you need to understand the reasons.

1. You Have Another Source of Income (Alternative income source identified)

If SASSA sees that you have money coming into your bank account (like a salary, business income, or regular deposits over R624 per month), they may think you don’t need the SRD grant.

2. You Are Getting Another Government Grant

If you already receive another SASSA grant (like child support or old age grant), then you cannot get the SRD grant as well.

3. Your ID or Personal Details Don’t Match

If the details you gave (like your ID number or name) don’t match with the Department of Home Affairs or other records, SASSA will decline your application.

4. You Are Registered for UIF or NSFAS

If you are getting Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) money or a bursary from NSFAS, SASSA will assume you already have support and will reject your SRD grant.

5. You Didn’t Confirm Every Month

You need to confirm or reapply for the SRD grant every month. If you forget to do this, SASSA may decline your application for that month.

Solution for SASSA Status Declined

Now, let’s fix this issue with my tested and working method.

1- Submit SRD Appeal Application on DSD Web Portal

You need to visit the Department of Social Development (DSD) website right after you get the rejection. SASSA allows the applicants to appeal for reconsideration.

To lodge the appeal, you need to visit the website:

  1. https://srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal
  2. Now, make sure you are on the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) website.
  3. Look for “Click here to appeal” and proceed.
  4. You will be required to provide your phone number to get the OTP.
  5. Submit the OTP and appeal application form will open.
  6. Fill out the application form with the required information.
  7. Now choose the reason why you are submitting the SASSA appeal.
  8. Submit your appeal application.

SASSA will now take up to 90 days maximum to respond to your appeal application. In this time, you need to check your SASSA appeal status regularly to stay alert of your application for reconsideration.

  2. Now, enter your appeal ID number and phone number.
  3. Get your SRD appeal for reconsideration status.

Understand the SASSA SRD Application Declined Process

1. You Submit Your Application

You apply online through the SASSA SRD website and provide your:

  • Full name and ID number
  • Contact details
  • Banking details
  • Proof that you need financial help

2. SASSA Checks Your ID with Home Affairs

SASSA checks if your ID number and personal details match with the Department of Home Affairs’ records. If there’s a mismatch, your application is declined.

3. SASSA Checks for Other Government Support

SASSA will check if you are already receiving:

  • Another SASSA grant (like child support or disability grant)
  • NSFAS bursary
  • UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund) payments

If yes, you will get a declined response.

4. Check Your Bank Account

SASSA works with banks to check how much money comes into your account.

  • If you receive more than R624 per month, they may think you don’t qualify.
  • If there’s no income or it’s very low, you may qualify.

5. SASSA Reviews Monthly

The SRD grant is checked every month, not just once. Even if you qualify one month, you might be declined the next month if your situation changes.

✅ If You Qualify:

You’ll get an SMS telling you the grant is approved. The money will be sent to your bank account or chosen payment method.

❌ If You Don’t Qualify:

SASSA will send you a reason why your application was declined.

You can appeal the decision within 90 days on the SASSA Appeals Website.
