How to Apply for the SASSA War Veterans Grant?

You can apply for the War Veterans grant by visiting the SASSA office in person. Find a local and nearest SASSA office in your region and submit the grant application there.

Before you apply for the grant, make sure you have all the required documents and that you are eligible for the grant.

War Veterans Grant Eligibility Conditions 2025

Here are the eligibility conditions for 2025.

• War Veteran: You need to be a war veteran of World War II (1939-1945) or the Korean War (1950-1953). You must have participated in any of these two wars.
• South African Citizens: Only South African citizens with permanent nationality are allowed.
• Should Not Be Any Other SASSA Grant Beneficiary: You can not apply for the War Veterans grant if you are already receiving other SASSA grants like the Older Persons grant or Disability grant.
• Age: You should be older than 60 years old.
• Disability: You must have a disability due to the war fighting.
• Income Limit: If you are single, then you should not be earning more than R 86 280 annually. However, if you are married, then your combined income should not cross R172 560 annually.
• Should Not Receive Government Care: You are not allowed to receive any type of government-funded facility, like an old-age home.
• Means Test: You have to pass the SASSA means test.

Required Documents for Application

• South African ID (Identity Document): If you do not have one, provide proof that you have applied for it.
